Jason Strudwick was a tough customer when he played his 674 games in the NHL with 100 fights on his resume. He also has an infectious personality and is one of the best storytellers. I enjoyed working with him and this conversation was a lot of fun. His last job before being a pro hockey player is a funny story, as are encounters with teammates including helping one high profile ex Oiler spend his bonus money. We chatted about the Oilers, Don Cherry and how he handles social media...which is brilliant.

We discussed whether or not there needs to be a star pro player who comes out as gay and what that might be like pressure wise. Brock is available if you need to reach out. He leaves his contact details on the podcast.

Episode 21

October 22, 2019

My good friend Dave Jamieson stopped by The Marsh at Podcast Alley for a conversation about sports, life and media. Dave grew up in Vancouver so he has a unique view of the 80's Oilers. He also was the communications guru for the Eskimos for 14 years and dealt with all kinds of people, including a guy nicknamed 'The Urinator'. He also had a heated exchange with an Eskimo legend and how one former NFL star thought the money he signed for was per game, not per season and what happened next. Of course we had to talk about 'the shovel incident' and we discussed the changing landscape when it comes to CFL fans and the media industry as a whole.

It was a fun conversation and as always you can win a GC from

Chris Dingman was a Brandon Wheat King fan favourite (though not mine as you'll find out) and first round pick of the Calgary Flames, he won 2 Stanley Cups, fought a lot of heavyweights and played with some serious HOF dudes. He is also a terrific story teller and gave us a peak into what his NHL career was like. Ryan Rishaug is one of the most recognized reporters in Canada, and he was also the subject of some stories by Darren Dreger on a recent episode, so he wants to set the record straight on a few things. We talked practical jokes the road, is Bob McKenzie off limits? And the prank that backfired. We also chatted about the difficulties he faced covering the Humboldt Broncos bus crash and the help he sought out to deal with that. His theory on therapy is a terrific one. His broadcasting career also had a really interesting start, covering the team he used to play for in the WHL. We also chatted about the undefeated Oilers. Johnny LaRue was our John Candy Character, Cool of the Week is American Horror Story 1984 and in the Obscenely Rich List segment I dreamed about watching as many live playoff games as I could. Episode 18

October 1, 2019

Who is the greatest Finnish hockey player of all time? Just one of the questions I had for my friend Jouni Nieminen, a freelance writer originally from Finland. I also wanted to chat with him about Jesse Puljujarvi's situation, but those questions took a back seat after Jouni had a serious health scare. An interview that was supposed to take place in August was pushed back and I'm just glad it took place at all. Jouni has helped raise a lot of money playing in 6 World's Longest Hockey Games and one of the baseball variety. Jamie Thomas stopped by in Fantasy Fun Time to discuss how I'm rebuilding, who's is Patrik Laine's new centre now that Brian Little is out for a month and why he started Andy Daulton in Fantasy Football this week. We went to SCTV for our John Candy Character and a private island was on my Obscenely Rich List. All that and the top 3 teams you think will make the playoffs in the NHL, that didn't last year.
